- Mini biography
Johnston got his start in the entertainment industry at a
young age, landing appearances in the Disney Elementary Talent Show an
unprecedented two years in a row for his timeless stand-up comedy. As a
young boy, Sean would spend literally hours in front of the television watching
some of the most popular game shows of the 1980s.
One year prior to the divorce of his parents in 1992, Sean was
sent to live with his father in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. As a student at
Vowels Elementary School, he was given the opportunity to once again return to
the stage, this time in a dramatic production. His teachers realized his
ability to perform in both dramatic and comedic roles and he became a utility
actor for much of the early 90s.
In 1995, Johnston teamed up with legendary actor/writer Andrew
Tomaskovic to bring St. Mary's School in Mount Clemens, Michigan a number of hit
performances including Gyparody! and The 1997 Spring Program.
It was at the St. Mary's School that he realized his talent for writing and
became more confident in his craft.
With the profound absence of a social life, and once again
faced with the challenge of a new school; Johnston found himself writing
significantly throughout his early High School period. Unfortunately, when
lightning struck his Saint Clair Shores apartment in 1999, he lost the vast
majority of short stories, plays, and screenplays that he had completed.
High School also gave Sean the opportunity to try his hand at
Television Broadcasting and Game Show hosting. He was an award-winning
cast member of The Silver and Blue Report for an astonishing three years
(a feat only matched by fellow cast member Jeff Allison). He was also
given the opportunity to produce and host three game shows at Lakeview High
School. The Silver and Blue Challenge, Junior Class Price is
Right, and Who Wants to be a Big Winner? The latter of which
raised over $800 for a Bosnian Orphanage.
Upon admittance to Central Michigan University's prestigious
Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts program, Sean found himself in comfortable
surroundings. It wasn't long before he rolled up his sleeves and went to
work for Moore Hall Television. Johnston was a featured cast member on the
improvisational comedy show Trapdoor, and the host of the award-winning
satire program The Lighter Side.
Where are they now?
Sean T. Johnston is currently fulfilling his elected duties as
Student Body President of Central Michigan University. His return to MHTV
is considered unlikely in 2003-2004, given his current level of involvement.
Johnston is, however, in negociations with the Senior Web Designer of
Moore Media Digital Design to be a freelance writer for the M2D2 website.
Johnston is one of the newest Associate Members of the Gamma
Lambda chapter of the Phi Kappa
Tau Fraternity
Entertainment Weekly reported that former
Lighter Side producer Brianne Frucci has signed on to help Sean develop a
game show for the 2004 Fall Sweeps.
Sean plans on a 4 year active tour of duty as a Surface
Warfare Officer in the United States Navy upon graduation from Central Michigan
University.
Johnston currently resides in Kesseler Residence Hall, Room
205.
